Who Cares? Scotland is a charity which advocates for those who have been in care in Scotland. The charity works to ensure children and young people get the support they need, when they need it and for as long as they want it.
The charity also works closely with young people in residential child care, organising social events and giving young people the chance to get involved with different activities and meet new people.
They make young people’s voices heard, and it was for this reason that staff and children from Millholm Residential Care Home in Ayrshire decided to take part in a charity event to raise funds for Who Cares? Scotland.
The young people and staff from Millholm set out on a 6k Kiltwalk, and were sponsored by family and friends. Through their efforts, the team managed to raise just under £500 and this figure has been matched by the CareTech Foundation, making a total of almost £1,000. All of this will go toward helping Who Cares? Scotland in the vital work they do standing up for those in care and care leavers.
The Kiltwalk was great fun for the staff and young people taking part. They managed the 6K hike and everyone achieved their goal. Leona, Heather, Rachael, Amy, Kyle, Jessica, Amy and Morgan (pictured below) have all worked together to raise funds and help others.
