MND Association

We are pleased to award a Match-Funding Grant of £350 to Charlotte, to support her efforts to raise funds for the MND Association Charity.

“On the 13th of May a member of the CareTech family completed their first Marathon to raise money for vital research and services for people with Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

Charlotte from Smartbox, a company within the CareTech group took part in the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon, running 26.2 miles from Headingley Rugby stadium, through the Yorkshire countryside and back.

For the second year, thousands of runners and spectators turned out to support the MND community and fundraise for a new state-of-the-art facility in Leeds to care for individuals diagnosed with the disease.

Charlotte, Smartbox’s Marketing Director, trained for months to complete the Marathon and raised £600 in donations from friends, family, and colleagues for the MND Association. The organisation supports research, raises awareness, and provides funding for services and assistive technology for people with MND across the country.

The Leeds Marathon was organised in Rob Burrow’s name and has been an inspiration for runners who want to take on the challenge and support individuals and families affected by MND. Rob, a former Rugby League legend and father of three recently died from the disease. In the four and half years since his diagnosis, Rob and fellow Rugby League teammate Kevin Sinfield have raised millions of pounds for research and support for the MND community, as well as inspiring others to get involved in fundraising efforts.

The CareTech Foundation is pleased to have supported Charlotte’s fundraising efforts, with match-funding of £350, some of which will go towards building the Rob Burrow specialist Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Care Centre in Leeds.

“I am incredibly grateful to have received match funding in support of the MND community, and to have been able to take part in such an important fundraising event, in Rob’s name feels like such an achievement. The final few miles were challenging but knowing that I could apply to the Foundation for match-funding once I completed the Marathon was a great motivator and pushed me to the finish line.”
