The Foundation was proud to match fundraising efforts for a young person who recently completed a 6.5 mile walk in honour of his mother. With the £250 matched by the Foundation, our young person raised over £1,300 for the Matthew Project.
Below, his support workers gave a little insight into what inspired him to undertake the challenge.
How did you get involved in this fundraising activity?
Our young person’s mother sadly passed away in June 2020 and he showed an interest in wanting to complete a charity fundraising event. He chose the Matthew Project as this is a drug support centre for families in Norfolk, which is where our young person is from.
What did you find most challenging and rewarding about this event?
The most rewarding thing for our young person was the sheer level of support he received and the beautiful comments that were left for him. It was such an inspirational experience for him at a time when he greatly needed to feel this.
Why did you pick this charity to raise funds for?
The young person completed the challenge as a memory walk.
How did your support workers help you in completing the challenge?
The home’s manager and his key worker completed the entire walk with the young person. The social work team around him also supported him all the way.
How do you feel knowing that the CareTech Foundation supports you?
It was great to know that he would get extra support for his chosen charity!
