The CareTech Foundation was delighted to support Tanya Davis-Walkden, Referrals and Assessment Manger, who, alongside her partner, delivered Christmas Hampers to their local community. Tanya and her family distribute hampers annually and whilst this year was a little different due to the pandemic, it did not stop them from bringing their community together to help those most in need.
Through a £500 Community Grant from the Foundation, and support from their local community, they were able to give out gifts, toys, sleeping bags, hats and scarves to bring joy to several families. They distributed approximately twenty hampers, four shopping trolleys of food and several boxes and bags to support the homeless, Salford Survivors Project, the Launch Project, Greater Manchester Homeless Group and the Emmaus Homeless Charity in Salford. Ten of these hampers went to a hotel in Rochdale, which houses 22 homeless families. One of their hampers was shared with an elderly lady, who had to self isolate as she was undergoing cancer treatment.
“Thanks again so much for the hamper for Eunice. She was made up and even had a little tear in her eye”
“Massive thank you to Tanya Davis-Walkden for the massive donation of long life food for the pantry and the Christmas dinners”
