Championing Social Care

Care Sector Christmas Lunch

In December 2022, the Care Sector Christmas Lunch was held. Over 160 guests came together at the prestigious RAC Club in London to celebrate a year of achievement for the programme and the wider sector.
Funds were raised in aid of the Care Workers’ Charity and the Alzheimer’s Society.

 

Care Sector Fundraising Ball

On 30th September, over 600 guests gathered for the last of the year’s four main events run by the Championing Social Care team: the Care Sector Fundraising Ball In excess of £417,000 was raised by the end of the night for beneficiary charities Care Workers’ Charity and Alzheimer’s Society – This means that in total over £1.1 million has been raised for beneficiaries since its inception in 2018. The event saw a wide range of professional entertainment as well as a live and online auction with guests enjoying dancing and high quality south Asian Food.

Care Home Open Week

In June, the Championing Social Care Team staged Care Home Open Week where registrations show that over 5,000 care homes planned to take part (over one third of the total number in the country). Care Home Open
Week enables care settings to showcase their work to Members of Parliament, key local decision makers and the general public. A launch event was followed by the inaugural Great British Care Sector Bicycle Relay which saw dozens of riders promoting the Open Week by riding stages that took the relay from London to Manchester via Wales.

Care Sector’s Got Talent!

 

In April, the Care Sector’s Got Talent! final brought together competitors from across the country to a live event at Derby Arena. Eight finalists were drawn from a total of 44 applicants and a wide range of talents were on display for the judges on the day. Over 1,700 people watched the Live Stream of the event and total views online now stand at more than 2,850. The finalists report the positive impact of participation on their wellbeing and how the final itself had brought them together with a new group of friends from within the sector. Finalists have gone on to perform at the Care Sector Fundraising Ball and the  Leaders in Care Awards event on the eve of the Care Show

In August, the programme welcomed a new Director and shortly afterwards the staff team expanded to include a Programme Co-ordinator who will work alongside the Director and the volunteer committees to deliver the
events.
