We’ve extended our partnership with The Open University to fund the Carers

We’re delighted to extend our partnership with The Open University to fund the Carers Scholarship Fund to fully fund undergraduate unpaid carers. The Fund offers full fee waivers to students and applications opened in Spring 2023 with students starting to study in Autumn 2023. To qualify carers need to be UK based, means tested and provide proof of caring from a qualified professional.

So far, the Foundation has supported 12 young carers through their first two years of study. This partnership is for further funding to help support the Foundation’s scholars to continue their study and complete their degree.

The Carers Scholarship Fund addresses the need for carers to prepare for life and a career after caring and to make up for lost opportunities where they have been disadvantaged by their situation. The Fund will provide students with a solid qualification and a chance to compete for some of the best positions in the employment market

“We are thrilled to be able to extend the funding for the Carers Scholarship Fund with The Open University. This means the Foundation’s cohort of students will be able to complete their studies and maximise their job opportunities. The fund is a game-changer for the students and will significantly enhance their chances of future success.”
