The Foundation is delighted to welcome Claire Marshall to the trustee board, following the recent open recruitment process.

Claire has spent her career working in and leading health & social care charities, in line with her commitment to challenging social inequities and improving access to health & social care. She is currently CEO of a charity that supports people living with domestic abuse, sexual violence and stalking. Welcoming her appointment, Chair of trustees Haroon Sheikh said:
I am delighted to welcome Claire to the board of trustees, knowing that she will make a fantastic contribution to the next phase of the Foundation’s development. Claire brings an array of skills and experience and we are thrilled that she has agreed to support our important work as the social care sector’s leading corporate foundation.
Haroon Sheikh, Chair of Trustees
Claire’s appointment brings the board’s complement of external trustees back up to four, following the end of Adrienne Kelbie’s term of office.
I’m delighted to be asked to join the CareTech Foundation Board, a group of people who are deeply committed and dedicated to great governance and ensuring the Foundation achieves it ambitions. I’m inspired by the Foundation’s support for people with physical and learning disabilities and mental health conditions and, in particular, its support for carers and the challenging work they do. I very much look forward to meeting staff, partners and contributing to the Foundation’s future work.
Claire Marshall

In addition to Claire’s appointment, the Foundation is delighted to welcome Hamza Sheikh as a trustee. Hamza is Digital Investments Director at CareTech plc, and replaces former trustee Akbar Sheikh following the end of his term of office. Akbar served as a trustee from the Foundation’s establishment and the Board isindebted to him for his support and commitment.
The trustees would also like to thank Mick Pratt whose term of office also ended recently. Mick served as a trustee for two years following his recognition as the Overall Winner of the CareTech Care Awards 2019. Mick’s replacement will be announced following the announcement of the Overall Winner of the CareTech Care Awards 2021!
The Foundation is blessed with an amazing group of trustees and it is entirely unsurprising that they recently won the Charity Times Trustee Board of the Year! I am delighted to welcome Claire and Hamza to the board. I would also like to thank our three outgoing trustees for the incredible contributions that they have made to the Foundation’s development.
