The Foundation is delighted that Advisory Board member Saeed Atcha has been appointed to become a Social Mobility Commissioner.
Saeed was one of twelve new members appointed to the Social Mobility Commission appointed by Damian Hinds MP, Secretary of State for Education, following a public appointments recruitment process. The Social Mobility Commission monitors progress towards improving social mobility in the UK, and promotes social mobility in England. The Commission is an advisory non-departmental public body, sponsored by the Department for Education.
Announcing the appointment, Education Secretary Damian Hinds said:
“This new team of commissioners brings together established business men and women, policy makers, academics and young people all with important perspectives to bring. The Social Mobility Commission will benefit from the expertise of this diverse mix of individuals, all of whom will bring their own unique stamp to what social mobility means in their lives.”
Commenting on the appointment, Foundation CEO Jonathan Freeman said:
“Saeed is a remarkable young man. Saeed’s contribution to social mobility through his many charitable ventures, like his contributions to the work of the Foundation, have been extraordinary. This is hugely well-deserved appointment and I look forward to Saeed helping to ‘shift the dial’ on the vital issue of improving the life chances for all in society.”
