Good Care Month
July is Good Care Month!
July is Good Care Month!
This is a time to celebrate professionals working across the social care sector and to thank them for their hard work and dedication.
It is clear that problems with staff retention and satisfaction in the sector are linked with a lack of support for the workforce. This can have detrimental impacts on the quality of care people receive. In order for good standards of care to be upheld, there must be support in place for those delivering it. At the Foundation, we strive to make meaningful change for care workers and the sector as a whole.
How we can support you:
Staff Hardship Fund
Our Staff Hardship Fund provides grants to Caretech Ltd staff and those who may recently have left the company who find themselves in significant financial hardship or at serious risk of becoming in significant financial hardship.
In 2023/24 we awarded 252 Staff Hardship Grants, totalling £197,358, with the average grant being £783.
Community Grants
Our Community Grant delivers support for communities, families and friends of CareTech Ltd staff facing significant financial hardship or for issues affecting local communities in which CareTech operates.
In 2023/24 we awarded 78 grants, totalling £101,344, which supported over 660 people.
How we have supported others:

Therapy Dogs Nationwide (TDN)
TDN is an initiative where visiting volunteers take their own dogs into establishments to provide comfort, distraction and stimulation. This helps to improve the health and wellbeing of the users.
Maddie is a 2-year-old Boxer Dog who visits one of CareTech Ltd’s sites! One staff member says, ‘She really does cheer up the residents and staff as well as offering sensory stimulation’.
We were delighted to support Therapy Dogs Nationwide with a £500 Community Grant which funded equipment to make all of this possible!

The Stafford Atletico under 7’s football team
This team recognise the importance of fostering an environment where their team feels valued, included and empowered. Over the winter, their training was interrupted due to poor weather conditions and many players had been playing in outgrown kits.
A grant of £750 from the Foundation funded indoor facilities and kits to allow the team to play consistently and with pride!

Growbaby
Growbaby groups provide quality resources for babies and children such as clothing, toiletries and equipment. Depending on specific needs of different areas, further support is offered. Everything is free of charge regardless of income, faith or background.
We were delighted to support the Growbaby Bury branch with a Community Grant of £625! This went towards donation bins, research and supplies.

‘Woo Fest’
‘Woo Fest’ is a street food festival celebrating young entrepreneurship. Local young people set up stalls and played music which was enjoyed by 600 people in the community!
The applicants 7-year-old daughter initiated this festival to raise funds for the Lewis foundation who put together and deliver gifts packages for those in hospital going through cancer treatment. She managed to raise a brilliant £1000!
We were pleased to award a Community Grant of £1000 towards this initiative to ensure more cancer patients and their families are supported.
