PARTNERSHIP GRANTS

Whizz-Kidz

CareTech Foundation Max Days.

Fourteen events have been held, supporting young wheelchair users and their families to have an unforgettable day of fun and activity, get a chance to meet other young wheelchair users and receive resource packs with material from experienced wheelchair users. This partnership will have a lasting effect – when those wheelchair users return to their own communities, they will be able to ‘brag’ about what they did and start to break down the psychological barriers that surround them. Whizz-Kidz will also involve local businesses to sponsor the events so that after the partnership concludes, future events will have funding and relationships secured. 263 wheelchair users alongside 459 parents/guardians have attended these events. The buddying network has introduced new wheelchair users to mentors with experience of using wheelchairs and the sibling’s network has helped increase confidence and empathy for siblings of wheelchair users by creating a safe space to share experiences.
