Chair of Trustee’s Statement
As we complete our second year under the three-year Strategic Plan, this is a milestone year for us because we have benefitted greatly from a clear direction and focus from the first five years of delivery. We have continued our focus in growing our reach and impact by ensuring essential services are being provided where they will matter most. This has meant stronger partnerships in new and existing areas.
As this report highlights, since 2017, the Foundation has:
- supported 2,099,812 beneficiaries through our grant streams, with a total of £6.83M committed to date;
- supported 5,120 people to gain new qualifications, enabling them to go on to progress as professionals;
- supported 475 charities through our grant streams, 439 of which were directly through CareTech Ltd staff sponsorship in their local communities or through fundraising efforts;
- made 1,262 Staff Hardship Grants, totalling £860,448, to help members of staff facing significant financial distress.
This year, we continued to deliver globally driven innovative problem-solving alongside Alzheimer’s Society through the Longitude Prize on Dementia. We also became the first sponsor of the world’s largest gathering of young carers with The Children’s Society’s Carers Festival and our very own flagship programme saw the delivery of bespoke training, created by our own team, in three cities across eight organisations.
Our continued growth in awareness amongst CareTech Ltd’s staff teams meant a record year for the Match- Funding and Community Grants, which both saw an incredible increase in utilisation. It captured the selfless spirit held by the social care workforce, who continue to put others first and are eager to make a difference through fundraising and sponsoring support.
With CareTech Ltd’s Head Office moving to Parkview, Uxbridge, we are grateful to the company for ensuring the Foundation’s team has a dedicated space. This will serve to keep costs low, but more importantly, the Foundation will operate out of a premium location with the best facilities for its staff and guests. This move is the right statement for the Foundation.
Lastly, I want to thank our trustees, our staff team and the generosity of our corporate founders at CareTech Ltd. As we close out another successful year, I am confident that we will continue to play an important role in championing and supporting the UK social care sector, those who work in the sector and those supported by the sector.
