Supporting Our Communities

The CareTech Foundation runs three programmes to support local communities and the family and friends of CareTech employees.

The Foundation delivers this small grants programme to support the communities, families and friends of CareTech Ltd staff facing significant financial hardship or for issues affecting local communities in which CareTech Ltd operates.

Our team considers all applications for these grants and makes recommendations to the Board of Trustees.

This Year:

  • 78 community grants were provided.
  • 660+ people were supported.
  • £101,344 funds were granted.

Northampton Saints Foundation

A grant of £2,500 funded the ‘Memory Café’ initiative that combats loneliness and social isolation. Since July 2023, the café has held 11 sessions for people experiencing memory loss, dementia or loneliness, and their carers. It provides a space for activities, interaction and community support. Participants report that the café helps alleviate feelings of isolation via community support.

Move The World

Move the World offers Global Citizenship Education programmes for students aged 10-15 in the Ga West District of Ghana, using the UNSDGs to promote creative thinking and community-driven solutions. Delivered by locally trained facilitators, these programmes have reached 2,956 students across 14 schools since 2019. The £1,500 grant from CareTech Foundation will help MTW expand its impact and provide more students with access to quality education.

Headroom Young Peoples Charity

Headroom Young People’s Charity offers specialist therapeutic services to young people aged 11-25, and their parents, in the NE Hampshire and Surrey border area. The impact of Headroom’s work is significant, with 95% of young clients showing an average of 38% improvement in competencies such as emotional management and self-advocacy. This growth enables them to better navigate challenges, enhance their confidence, and focus on education while fostering healthier social lives. The £2,500 grant from CareTech Foundation will help Headroom increase its capacity to meet the increased demand for its services.

The Foundation delivers this small grants programme to boost fundraising and volunteering efforts of CareTech Ltd staff and Service Users.

This Year:

  • 252 grants were provided.
  • £197,358 funds were granted.
  • £783 was the average amount awarded.

The requests for support have increased due to the rising cost of living and reduced government aid.

Grants cover financial hardship due to extreme circumstances, illness, cost of living, utilities, rent, council tax arrears, vehicle expenses, and funeral expenses.

The highest number of grants were given to applicants aged 30-39, followed by 20-29. This is in keeping with the wider societal narrative that Millennials are the most adversely affected by the current economic circumstances in the UK.

An ongoing partnership with Citizens Advice Milton Keynes (CAMK) is offering CareTech Ltd employees and their families free social welfare and financial advice to help them cope with the ongoing Cost-of-Living Crisis.
