Alzheimer’s Society
Digital solutions to support people with dementia.
The Longitude Prize on Dementia (LPoD) galvanises global innovators to design a product that will transform dementia care.
CareTech Foundation supports the funding of this 4 year project. The 5 prize finalists were announced in October 2024 at the Alzheimer’s Europe annual conference. Each will receive £300,000 as well as a package of capacity-building support to develop their solutions.
There has been positive engagement between the Prize and CareTech Ltd to explore real world testing for prototypes.
Autistica
Social Care Action Fund.
CareTech Foundation are supporting Autistica to develop and fund five practical, high-quality social care research studies focussing on the health, wellbeing and quality of life of autistic people with a learning disability. In 2024 all the projects have now concluded and Autistica have moved into the reporting phase.
Autistica’s work on Social Care Action Fund has highlighted the importance of engaging with the care sector when it comes to supporting people with autism in a wide variety societal settings. A key focus of the research projects has been the development of toolkits intended to improve the quality of care that is available to autistic people in care and improve their quality of life in the long term. The research has highlighted importance and effectiveness of toolkits as a way of supporting autistic people in general and has led to increased toolkit development and usage.
This project has further cemented Autistica as a leading voice in the sector, and has helped with attracting other partners on the organisation’s research and projects to help Autistic people. The organisation is developing an ‘Employers 2030’ toolkit, which underpins their aim to double the number of autistic people in work by 2030.
