Championing the social care sector, care workers and those living in care

The CareTech Foundation supports people affected within the social care sector, works to increase the capacity and ability to deliver care and invests in research and innovation in this area. Alongside championing care workers, those living in care and raising the sector’s profile.

Championing Social Care

CareTech Foundation was a founding partner of Championing Social Care, a volunteer-led group of leaders from across the social care sector. The organisation’s vision is to ensure a wider and deeper public understanding and respect for social care. It is focused on delivering positive stores and initiatives about the sector and runs a series of programmes to spotlight these stories and issues.

In April 2024, Championing Social Care was set up as a company. CareTech Foundation has provided infrastructure and networking support to enable the team to operate at scale from the outset.

Care Home Open Week

One-third of the care services across the country (over 5000) engaged with the Care Home Open Week in June 2024, with almost 1 million people taking part in an Open Week event – a 50% increase from last year. 7% of the population have heard of Care Home Open Week, and peak levels of social media engagement with the week was seen.

Care Sector’s Got Talent

Care Sector’s Got Talent 2024 had a record number of applicants. Social media reach for the event was nearly 15,000.

The Great British Care Cycle Relay

The 2nd Great British Care Cycle Relay took place in June 2024. Over 500 people took park, and hosting homes organised a range of reception events with local VIP guests and service users greeting the riders.
