Since Monday, 13th April 2020, the Sparkle for Social Care campaign has been launched to offer recognition to care workers. They don’t receive enough credit for the vital work they do. An army of almost 2 million care workers is currently looking after the most vulnerable people in the UK, helping them get through the lockdown. People in need of care are often older or suffering from certain health issues, meaning they are also the most susceptible to COVID-19. While their families and friends are unable to look after them, care workers offer a vital life-line, ensuring that their daily needs are met and that they are not left stranded and alone.

The appeal aims to raise £1million for the Care Workers Charity Covid-19 Crisis Grants to support care workers during the coronavirus crisis. Care staff, personal assistants and support workers can apply to the charity for grants if they are unable to work because they are self-isolating. The Care Workers Charity has been our long-standing partner. We have been providing a three-year grant to support their Hardship Fund for care workers.
We invite you to participate in #SparkleforSocialCare every Monday by using the attached sheets to create sparkly banners of support. Hang them outside your home, make them visible from the window, colour them, glitter them and share them across your social media.
