Sian Parry is a Finance Officer in CareTech’s Children Division. The CareTech Foundation recently awarded £250 to match Sian’s fundraising efforts for the Wales Air Ambulance Charity. Below, Sian describes the story behind her fundraising efforts for this vital charity.
“I was told about CareTech Charitable Foundation by some of my colleagues. After reading about the recently set up Charitable Foundation, I felt more encouraged to go ahead and arrange a coffee morning to support a charity that means a lot to me.
Not long ago I received a call from my daughter’s school informing me that she had an accident and had broken her arm. Sara had broken her femur bone and was unable to move and was in a lot of pain. After being assessed, it was decided that Sara needed an Air Ambulance and the crew on board were amazing! We live in a small village in North Wales and it was the only way we were going to get to the hospital. They made her feel safe and helped her with the pain. I am sure that without the help they gave Sara she may have had to have life-changing surgery.
I am very pleased to say that, after several months of hospital visits and various different coloured casts, Sara’s arm is now okay and she is well on the way to full recovery!
Sara and I wanted to show our appreciation to the Wales Air Ambulance and thank them for all that they did. We organised a coffee morning and also sold some homemade Christmas cards. We were overwhelmed by the generosity of people in our local village. Everyone wanted to support such an important charity, Wales Air Ambulance, which receives no Government funding and relies solely on donations.
I am extremely grateful to all of those who donated money during the coffee morning but especially to the CareTech Foundation which match-funded our efforts. I felt so much more encouraged to go ahead and arrange the coffee morning knowing I would have the support of the Foundation. It also made me very proud to say that I work for CareTech plc.
I would like to thank Caretech Foundation for their donation to the charity which is very much appreciated.”
