Jennifer Parry and her husband completed a mammoth virtual cycling challenge to raise awareness and support for the St David’s Foundation Hospice Care. With the support of the Foundation, they raised just over £1,000 to support a charity very close to them.
Below, Jennifer shared her story and some insight on why she chose to fundraise for St David’s Foundation Hospice Care.
“My husband & I cycled various virtual rides such as Route 66, Lands’ End, Grand Canyon, with the longest stretching at 2,280 miles total of 10 routes between us from September until January.
We raised £805 in aid of St. David’s Foundation Hospice Care and every donation counted as they have really felt the impact of COVID-19. This cause meant a lot to us as a family as I, myself, am entering my 4th year of remission so we fully understand how much Cancer can impact on a family.
From their first year of operation when St David’s cared for six patients, it has grown to become the UK’s largest provider of hospice at home care, caring for over 3200 patients and families every year, at a cost of over 5.8 million. St David’s Hospice Care is committed to providing bespoke, individual care for all patients and their families. Working alongside patients we hope to support those at the most difficult times of their lives and making sure patients maintain their choices and dignity is paramount.
We are really pleased to hear that Caretech are able to support us in adding to the total amount donated allowing us to reach over a £1,000 for the charity”
