The CareTech Foundation is delighted to support Kate Walker, a now former CareTech Plc employee, and Hayley Puglsey, a RSW, with their respective fundraising efforts for Cancer Research UK. Read below to find out about their personal motivations for taking up the challenges.
“I have been a keen runner and cyclist for many years, so when the restrictions of the pandemic were in force, I felt very lucky to be able to continue with my hobbies and to keep myself fit and active. I have participated in many challenges over the years, but was particularly interested in supporting the 300 mile cycle for Cancer Research UK in March 2021 as this was my first virtual event during lockdown.
I recognise the tremendous contribution this wonderful charity makes to the lives of others and that many charities were struggling due to the cancellation of mass participation events during lockdown, on which they rely for so much of their income. I was delighted that Caretech Foundation was able to match my efforts by donating £185 to Cancer Research UK and am very grateful to those involved in arranging this.”

“Cancer Research has always been a charity close to my own and my family’s heart, after having lost several family members over the years from the disease. I have completed events for this charity in the past as a young child, but still want to continue to help towards a much needed cause that continues to support thousands of families through such a worrying and difficult time.
I saw an advert promoting the 10,000 steps in March event and immediately decided that I wanted to sign up! Although 10,000 steps may not seem like much to a lot of people, it was definitely a challenge for me but knowing it was for a worthy cause, it enabled me to motivate myself to go for a long walk every day! I did not expect to raise over £200 but I am extremely proud and thankful.
I was completely unaware that the CareTech Foundation had a scheme in which they would match fundraising however after being told by a colleague, I immediately jumped at the amazing opportunity and I am so grateful of CareTech for helping me to make a difference to a much needed cause. Thank you CareTech Foundation!”
