Blood Cancer UK
Walk of Light

Deborah Swan, a trainer from Cheshire, and her mum completed the Walk of Light earlier this year in support of Blood Cancer UK. With a match-funding grant of £250, Deborah raised over £600 for a charity close to her. Find out more about her story below.

“I completed the Walk of Light with my Mum on 27th March 2021. My Mum is in the watch and wait stage of Non Hodgkins Lymphoma and I also have a friend undergoing treatment for Non Hodgkins Lymphoma."
"We walked 11 Miles in total along the Wirral Coast from Leasowe Lighthouse to Egremont, Seacombe and back. We started at 5pm and finished at 11.30pm, with a few breaks here and there."
"I did train a little, completing at least 10,000 steps a day for a few months, but completing the actual walk was exhausting, my poor legs were very sore for a week! It was enjoyable though and extremely rewarding. Walking in the dark with the sound of the waves crashing on the shore was extremely relaxing”
