The Foundation is delighted to announce the appointment of three new trustees: leading charity CEO Jessica Taplin; senior Chartered Accountant Nash Jaffer; and, Cambian Group’s Chief Financial Officer Chris Dickinson. These appointments follow the recent open recruitment exercise conducted by the Foundation. As a result of these new appointments, the Foundation now has four independent trustees highlighting the charity’s commitment to strong governance and its focus on delivering public benefit.

Jessica has over a decade’s experience in senior charity roles, including CEO roles at vInspired and Get Connected as well as grant-making experience at the Big Lottery Fund, following a successful career in business development at News International and IPC Media.
Commenting on her appointment, Jessica stated:
“I am delighted to have joined the board of a foundation that strives to deliver meaningful impact. I am particularly interested in how the Foundation supports people with disabilities and those with long-term health needs.”
Nash Jaffer is an experienced Chartered Accountant who specialises in structuring real estate transactions and funds having previously worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers and Ernst & Young where he accumulated considerable experience including closing real estate funds, tax planning and transaction advisory. Recently, he founded Leadenhall Partners and advises several real estate funds undertaking significant projects in central London, particularly on corporate governance, investor reporting and the financial aspects of the developments. Nash is passionate about social mobility and, as Chairman, has guided Caridon Housing in its transition from start-up to a local market leader in the supported housing segment of the social housing sector. Nash previously served as a Non-Executive Director at Merton & Sutton NHS Trust and as a school Governor at several local Schools.
Commenting on his appointment, Nash stated:
“I am delighted to join the CareTech Foundation and look forward to contributing to the Foundation’s excellent work in the community and with other leading charities.”
Chris Dickinson joined CareTech plc in January 2019 as Cambian Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining CareTech plc, Chris spent over 15 years in the global investment banking sector primarily focused in the UK. He has extensive transactional experience in strategic mergers and acquisitions and associated financings. He was previously a Managing Director at Jefferies where he acted for CareTech plc on its merger with Cambian. Prior to Jefferies, Chris spent 14 years in the investment banking division of J.P. Morgan and three years at Deloitte, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant.
Commenting on his appointment, Chris stated:
“I’m delighted and privileged to become a trustee. The Foundation has already achieved a meaningful impact since its start in 2017 with clear future ambitions to deliver and support a range of initiatives. I very much look forward to working with the trustees on these and make a real change in the care sector”
Haroon Sheikh, CareTech Foundation’s Chairman, commented:
“I am delighted to welcome Jessica, Nash and Chris to the Board of trustees for the Foundation. In its first two years, the Foundation has demonstrated itself as the leading corporate foundation in the care sector and is driving important change across a number of key social issues at the heart of the Foundation’s mission. To be able to benefit from the support and leadership of three such inspirational individuals as Jessica, Nash and Chris will ensure that the Foundation can deliver on the ambitious plans we have for its growth. It was particularly important to me and my colleague trustees that the Foundation could benefit from greater external input so I am very pleased that these appointments increase the number of independent members of the Board.”
